Accounting and business advisory firm MHA, the UK and Ireland member firm of Baker Tilly International, has significantly expanded its Liverpool office following a sustained period of growth in revenue and staff numbers.
The firm has taken an additional 3,000 sq ft of space at Exchange Station, now occupying a 4,200 sq ft office that is home to 43 staff including four partners and one director.
MHA, which has 22 offices across the UK and Ireland, including five in the North West, recently announced revenue growth of 32% in its half year financial update. The firm’s headcount has grown to more than 1,900 across the UK, including 147 partners, and in September it welcomed a record 214 new trainees
Revenue across the firm has doubled over the last four years from £90m in 2020 to an expected full year revenue of £200m for the 2024/25 financial year.
Recent senior appointments for MHA in Liverpool have included tax partner Michael Spencer and transaction services director Rowan Porter.
Andrew Matthews, partner in the Liverpool office, said:
The story of MHA in Liverpool reflects what is happening in the firm nationally, with significant growth in clients, staff numbers and revenue.
We’ve been recruiting at all levels from trainees to partner and this fresh investment in our Liverpool office underpins our plans for developing our people and supporting our clients, both now and in the future.
Graham Gordon, regional chair of MHA in the North West, added:
Our office expansion in Liverpool follows similar improvement projects we have completed elsewhere in the North West, including Manchester and Lancaster.
This programme of works is aimed at providing inspiring office environments for our people, meeting the needs of modern working, and contributing to our net zero aspirations and wider ESG goals.
We’re proud to have such a strong presence in Liverpool, working closely with the city’s professional community and leveraging our national and international networks to support client growth.
As part of the expansion in Liverpool, the office has received a major refurbishment by fit-out specialist Claremont. This has been undertaken in line with MHA’s approach to staff wellbeing, carbon reduction and minimising waste.
This project diverted 91% of waste from landfill and introduced energy saving measures like PIR lighting, increased natural light, and measures to reduce noise pollution.
