Leading UK and Ireland accounting and advisory firm MHA - the UK member of the Baker Tilly international network, is pleased to announce the appointment of Ahmer Khan as the new head of Insurance. Ahmer will also become the leader of the new financial services practice for Baker Tilly Ireland.
He brings with him more than two decades of assurance and consulting experience across the financial services sector with expertise in insurance, banking, asset management and capital markets.
Ahmer will service financial services clients both in the UK and Ireland. He will head up the Insurance practice in the UK and service UK banking audit clients. In Ireland, he will focus on insurance, asset management and capital market clients.
Ahmer makes the move from EY Ireland, where he spent 13 years leading audit and consulting projects for large clients, including insurers, banks, asset managers and mutual/hedge funds. Prior to EY, he spent 12 years with KPMG, working across Jersey, Dublin, and London. His expertise covers technical accounting, corporate governance, complex investment valuations, implementation of IFRS 9 at large banks and IFRS 17 in the insurance sector.

Ahmer is a Chartered Accountant and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ireland as well as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from Dublin City University.
