EUDR: Update on the Due Diligence Statement Process and the EUDR Platform

Although the implementation of the EUDR was delayed by 12 months, the European Union is progressing with its implementation. As a UK company trading with the EU, now is the time to review the scope of the EUDR and access any requirements for submitting Due Diligence Statements (DDS).

Due Diligence Statement Process

The most recent update on the EUDR process is the ability for Operators and Traders to begin to populate DDS that will be required for the importation of any in-scope products.

For UK businesses importing into the EU, this is a key element of the EUDR process and there must be sufficient understanding of the process to minimise the risk of non-compliance as the penalties are severe.

EUDR Platform

A key part of the EUDR reporting process, the DDS, can now be input via the ‘EUDR Platform’. To access the platform, users must first create an EU Login. Once registered, users can log in and configure their account to add their company as either a new ‘Operator’ or ‘Trader’.

As highlighted in a previous article, the Geolocation for each product is required to be input into the DDS, otherwise the statement will not be accepted. This, along with the producer’s name and address are mandatory fields so it is critical that any company importing in-scope products into the EU begins to communicate within its supply chain to obtain this data.

At MHA, we are assisting clients with this process to ensure that the required data is obtained in good time so preparations for the EUDR are complete before December 2025 deadline.

How MHA can help you?

Our Customs Team can support your business by reviewing your products to confirm whether they fall within the scope of the EUDR. We can also assist with collating the data for provision to EU customers or with the creation of a DDS.
