THE ROLE
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Business Services Assistant Manager to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will hold an ACA, ACCA qualification or equivalent. This role involves supporting the Business Services Manager in daily tasks, which include reviewing financial statements, management accounts, VAT returns, supervising and mentoring team members, and managing various client-related activities and deadlines.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the Business Services Manager in daily operations, ensuring efficient workflow and task completion.
- Review and analyse clients' financial statements prepared by junior team members to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Supervise junior staff, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback to foster professional growth and development.
- Review VAT returns and management information prepared by the team to ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
- Coordinate and manage job scheduling to ensure timely and efficient completion of tasks and projects.
- Oversee the billing process, ensuring accurate and timely invoicing for services rendered.
- Conduct client calls and meetings to discuss financial matters, provide insights, and address any concerns or queries.
- Maintain high standards of quality and accuracy in all deliverables, ensuring client satisfaction and compliance with industry standards.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the team.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- 3 years + experience within Management & statutory Accounts/Bookkeeping team/.
- Previous experience in supervising a small team
- Must have experience of working in a practice environment.
- Excellent bookkeeping skills and fully experienced in the preparation of UK VAT, related returns and management reporting
- Experience in reviewing statutory accounts
- Solid experience of Cloud accounting software, to include , Sage and Xero.
- Good knowledge of UK VAT and related legislation.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Organisation/time management skills.
- Communication – good written, verbal and active listening skills.
- Confident when dealing with clients and getting your views across.
- Methodical and logical thinking.
- Team player.
- Use initiative to identify problems and provide solutions.
