After studying Business Management at Cardiff University, Gareth Matthias joined MHA on our ACA graduate scheme in 2013, qualified in 2015 and was promoted to Audit Manager in April 2018. Gareth left the firm in July 2019 and worked as a Finance Manager in both the Energy and Insurance sectors before re-joining MHA in January 2023 as Senior Manager. In October 2024, Gareth was promoted to Audit Director.
Gareth is currently an Audit Director within our Thames Valley office. He works across a wide range of businesses including large multi-nationals with complex structures, public interest entities and small owner managed businesses. Gareth also works across a number of sector but his main specialism is Technology and Insurance.
He enjoys advising on a variety of matters affecting businesses, utilising his experience from industry along with his exposure to audit and accounting issues. His knowledge extends across a wide range of businesses including large multi-nationals with complex structures, small owner managed businesses, and a number of sectors including technology, insurance, distribution & logistics and telecommunication.
Since re-joining the firm in 2023, Gareth has been heavily involved in building MHA’s Insurance sector and is responsible for the delivery of the firms Insurance audits, with a notable specialism in Friendly Societies, Insurance Mutuals, Health plans and syndicates.
Gareth is a keen runner and try and run get out for a run 4-5 times a week. He has completed several half marathons and recently broken the sub 90 minute mark at the Reading Half.
