MHA's Sustainability Promise

How we plan to achieve our Net Zero goals through our SBTi validated carbon reduction plan, how we mitigating our risks with voluntary TCFD reporting and what we are doing as an organisation to take climate action now.

Our Sustainability Promise: Achieving Net Zero and Beyond

We fully support the UK government’s ambitious plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero carbon (‘Net Zero’) by 2050 by ensuring we perform all reasonable procedures to be a Net Zero organisation by 2030.

To achieve these goals, we are raising awareness within the Firm via climate change workshops, implementing an internal training certification, and creating climate transition plans with emissions targets covering Scope 1, 2 and 3. We also recognise the vital role of Nature and the ‘S’ (Social) and the ‘G’ (Governance) in ESG.

We are committed to providing our people, our clients, and our suppliers with the support necessary to enable them to contribute meaningfully to achieving our Sustainability Promise; and we are equally committed to achieving that promise within a governance framework that is class-leading.

We are committed to Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and setting reduction targets in line with their globally recognised high standards.

Beyond Value Chain Mitigation

MHA is committed to taking climate action now whilst actively reducing emissions in line with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol’s definition of “net zero”.

Supporting the Beyond Value Chain Mitigation model promoted by Science Based Target Initiative, we are committed to supporting environmental initiatives which contribute to short and long term decarbonisation goals.

  1. Plant a tree for every new starter
  2. Run Lunch-and-Learns to educate our people on making positive sustainability choices in work and at home
  3. Over 30 Net Zero Heroes across our 23 locations to drive positive environmental change in our offices
  4. Host initiatives to encourage reuse, repurpose and recycle
  5. Offer bike loans to promote healthier and more environmentally modes of commuting

Recognising Scope 3 emissions

Our emissions analysis reports on Scope 1 and 2 emissions, and includes the relevant categories for Scope 3 emissions for a professional services firm. In addition, we monitor our supply chain via a Responsible Procurement policy, to ensure the suppliers we work with are aligned to our ESG values and to have visibility of their own progress towards net zero status. Currently this is at Tier 1 level of the supply chain, but to achieve our ambitious targets, we aim to expand our supply chain sustainability reporting to Tier 2 in the next 2 years.
